MazeLock is an interesting application that performs the task of locking the screen through the use of various patterns that is designed and selected by the user on the nine dot grid. This application works as the keypad guard.
This interesting application has found its utility in the Android Operating System where this is one of the default key guard options that are available. But on Symbian OS, you have to specially install this free app from the Ovi Store.
This simple and easy to use application is light weight and easy to use. Instead of using special hardware codes to lock your phone, you can use this app. Unlocking can be done by drawing the same pattern using the same dots.
In order to use this application, you need to first set a pattern by connecting some of the nine white dots together. There is a default pattern that comes preloaded in the app. When you need to unlock the phone, you have to draw the same pattern exactly same as you have set earlier.
Here are some of the pros and cons of this application:
Pros
- Doesn’t require internet connection
- Simple and easy to operate
- Ad Free
- Doesn’t consume much power or in other words, it is Battery Friendly
- Customizable background colours and images
- Backgrounds change after certain intervals
- A number of images, clock and time displays and backgrounds can be downloaded from the internet
- Automatic updates
- Shows notifications of Missed Calls, SMS, Network or any other service
Cons
- Calls may get blocked while the phone is in locked mode
- No automatic start i.e. you have to unlock the code by entering pattern the mobile every time you open the mobile. This can be frustrating in certain conditions.
- No mechanism for pattern recovery i.e. pattern once lost is lost forever and you don’t have the option but to reset the phone to factory settings.
