Nokia Drop — Brilliant Way to Push Notifications, Feeds to Nokia Handsets

Nokia Drop is an app developed to push or send content from a website to Nokia mobile phones with Symbian OS. The app uses Push Notification service to “push” or pass notifications, updates, or other content matters from the Internet without using Bluetooth connectivity or cable connections.

How it Works

Users of a Symbian-based Nokia cell phone often transfer images, content, or links that they browse on the net to the handset with just a click of a button. This application is possible through Nokia Drop tool integrated in the handset. Readers, who are gleaning through an article on their laptop, can easily “drop” the article to the Nokia mobile phone and read it offline whenever they are free on their mobile. All you need is data connectivity and a Nokia handset that is at least S60 5th Edition and Symbian^3 devices. You also need compatible PC browsers, such as Firefox 3.6 and the latest Chrome version, 10. Remember, you need to install or add the feature by customizing the toolbar as the app is not likely to appear as a default app.

What it Does Not Support

Nokia drop can be used to transfer data or push notifications from the sites uploaded on the Internet or “public domain”. It will not allow or support data transfer from sites which are “not public” or password protected. It will also not allow transfer of URLs, text, images, or videos from the Intranet or private domain. The reason behind this clause is that the app sends links only. The link is later downloaded via Nokia Drop utility.

What are Functions of Nokia Drop

If you have Nokia Drop app in your Nokia mobile handset, you would be able to:

  • Change the wallpaper of your mobile phone
  • Send public URL, images, map view, location information from Nokia’s Ovi map store, RSS feeds, themes, ringtones, other apps to your handset without using SMS or Bluetooth utility

Users can also choose the drive in which to install the app as well. With common glitches, such as fixing “error memory full” being fixed in the updated Nokia Drop, you can now readily choose Nokia Drop for transferring or pushing data.
